I love the IronGym

Based on my recent adventures in strength training, I have come to really value pull-ups. They are one of the hardest exercises to do as it pits virtually all of your body weight against your own muscles. Pull-ups are great for your shoulders, arms, back and, to some extent, your abs. You don’t need any extra weights or equipment to do them besides a sturdy pull-up bar – which brings me to the IronGym.

The IronGym is a great device that I have already found extremely useful in my workouts. Yes, basically it is just a fancy pull-up bar. But it is a really, really great pull-up bar. Aside from the unique way it connects to your door frame (no screws or other damage necessary) it features several different grips to focus on the specific muscle groups that you want to work. The commercials say that it is also useful for doings like pushups, situps and dips, but who really needs help with those? I recommend the IronGym purely for the pull-ups.

Other reasons I like this product:

-Cheap. At $30 it definitely isn’t the most expensive piece of equipment you could buy for your home gym. Save the money you would spend on the Bowflex and get this instead.

-Portable. The device is really easy to hang on any door frame. I think it uses rotational force to keep the bar in place without leaving any dents or scuffs in your walls.

-Workout from home. The more exercises I can do from home, the better the chance that I won’t skip out on them. Plus, as a couch potato turned distance runner, my upper body strength isn’t something that I am overwhelmingly proud of yet. Doing my minuscule number of pull-ups in the gym were sometimes a little embarrassing. I feel much more confident doing them at home because I know I can do more than my wife (yes, we really had that competition).

If my sales pitch has piqued your interest head over to GetIronGym.com and check out the cheesy video that goes along with it.

BTW – Believe it or not, I’m not getting any money for this post. This just happens to be a product that I actually endorse.
