As a site that professes fitness for geeks, I would be remiss not to mention this awesome new trend in fitness clubs across the country: Punkrope! Designed as a fun fitness program set to high energy and interesting music, Punkrope has people exercising to a curriculum that is more like recess in elementary school than a traditional cardio class. If this was offered in my area, I’d go for the sheer craziness of it (and the fact that the music totally rocks).
In a typical class, there are 15 intervals. We like to mix things up to keep you on your toes! You might be an action hero “skiing” (lateral hops & squats) and skating (lateral bounds) away from the villain. Or you might be slugging it out in an ultimate fighting competition (boxing, kicking, blocking). Or perhaps you’ll be a kangaroo (broad jump), dingo (downward dog), and crocodile (crawling) fighting for survival in the Australian outback. You might even get to play an old-school game, but rest assured it will have a Punk Rope spin. You’ll certainly get some core and upper body work as well as a relaxing cooldown. We promise to give you a thorough, yet entertaining workout.
