Why I Love Twitter

So, you may have already heard my whining about a knee problem that I’ve been having. Well, the problem is persisting so I decided to ask my Twitter friends to diagnose me this morning. What I got was an overwhelming response from people who are much more knowledgeable than I. Literally dozens of @replies filled my stream and I am thankful for each of them.

What I have determined is that knee injuries, and those similar to mine in particular, seem to be quite common amongst all types of people. However, it also sounds like I should seek out a professional opinion if the pain does not subside soon. I have been on rest for over a week now – no running, jogging, or Ultimate and it’s been tortuous. Tonight I will take a slow 3 mile lap around my neighborhood and see how things feel tomorrow. If the pain returns then I’ll call the doctor on Monday. Otherwise, I’ll continue a slow return to my usual routine and never take my legs for granted again.

I also learned that Twitter is a great place for instant feedback and support if you ask the right questions. However, for Twitter to do its job appropriately you will have to build your audience accordingly. I follow others that seem to share similar interests and hobbies with me (running, fitness, blogging, etc). This way, when I ask a question I know that I’m getting answers from like-minded people that I trust.
