I’ve written some bloggeries in the past about which gadgets I like to use alongside my fitness life. But today I wanted to share the three tools that have helped me the most. These are the tools, that have truly inspired me and pushed me to new levels of fitness and consistency.
MP3 Player – Whether I’m listening to music, podcasts, or audio books, I love being able to get my mind out of jogging occasionally. Sometimes, the monotony of jogging can lead to boredom that hurts your performance and endurance. If you can find an mp3 player to take on the road or treadmill with you, not only will you have mental distraction, but pump-up music is always great for boosting up hills.
Pedometer/Stopwatch – My current watch has a pedometer and heart rate monitor along with the normal abilities like stopwatch. I often use the combination of pedometer and stopwatch to accurately measure the time and distance of my jogs to see how much I’m improving. It’s not 100% accurate, but it can give you a great estimate for upcoming races.
Traingo – I know there are a lot of fitness related web applications, but Traingo.com is definitely one of my favorites. Traingo allows you to keep track of all your workouts, whether running, biking, or swimming. After you complete an activity you can enter your data and the magic of Traingo will calculate your average speed as well as keep up with your cumulative miles for the month, year, or all time. You can also add routes to your profile using Google Maps so that you can have an accurate idea of how far you ran. Plus, Traingo will allow you to share both your routes and workouts with other friends on the site or through Twitter. It really is a great site for keeping your workouts and progress digitally archived online. (The site is currently still in Beta, so if you’d like an invite drop a comment below)
